Fayette Tenn. in the spring is like heaven on earth according to Vestal and Emma Stinson. "In the spring everything is coming to life the mountains and valleys are doted with every conceivable color," according to the Stinson's.
Vestal and Emma were married on one of the beautiful spring days June 8,1941, in Fayette Tenn.
Vestal served in the U.S. Navy during World War 11, he was in the invasion of Normandy.
Vestal worked as a journeyman ironworker for 50 years, and business manager for the union, and coordinator for Iron Workers Local 22.
Emma worked in the factories making supplies for the soldiers during the war; later after moving to Indianapolis she was the director for Riley Park, she also raised seven children.
The Stinson's are the proud and busy grandparents of 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild.
The couple moved to Morgan County eleven years ago, where they have become very active in their community.
When ask why they think their marriage has lasted so long the answer was,"due to the hard work of raising seven children, during hard times, and good, also having a good sense of humor helps."
The Stinson's children held a celebration on June 8,2008 for their parents 67th anniversary. Friends and family were invited to bring pictures and stories from the past 67 years a wonderful fun filled evening was enjoyed by all.
