Families in St. Louis like most cities in 1944 had hundreds of their young men caught up in World War 11. With so little to celebrate at this time the joy of a wedding celebration brought new hope into everyone's life. Mel and Ruth Erlinger were married June 24, 1944 in St. Paul's Evangelical Church in St. Louis.
Mr. Erlinger served in the U.S. Navy during World War 11. After the war the Elinger’s moved to Pinellas County. Before retiring Mel was a teacher in the school system, and served as a minister of visitation for the Cornerstone Church in Pinellas. Mel now stays busy as a freelance writer.
Ruth Also retired from Pinellas school system, as an award-winning teacher.
The Erlinger’s find that their lives are full and never a minute to spare with 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
Friends and family honoring the Erlinger’s 64 anniversary held a celebration June 24, 2008.
