In preparation of their diamond-wedding anniversary Bill, and Jessie Cocks can truly say that they found destiny on their doorstep. Living as neighbors from the age of two, they were often seen holding hands.
A childhood friendship blossomed into love while they were teenagers.Separation over the years due to the war, and work could not divide the two.
There was never a time when the two questioned that they would one day marry. Neither Bill, or Jessie have ever had another boyfriend, or girlfriend.
Distance only made their love grow, while they were in touch by mail. The Cocks became engaged on Easter in 1947, when they were both 19.
They married in St Peter's Church in the village of St Peter's, near Broadstairs, Kent, on November 8 the same year.
Bill said, "I don't consider 60 years to be any great achievement, one day follows another and you just take each as they come."
Jessie added: "I do see it as an achievement, couples make their vows when they get married and they should stick to them."
In recognition of their enduring marriage, they have been invited to join other couples at a service to mark the Queen and Prince Philip's diamond wedding at Winchester Cathedral on November 18.
The Cocks four children, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The Family gave a luncheon, for Bill, and Jessie in celebration of their 60 years together.

Newman's Golden Marriage
Paul Newman, and wife Joanne Woodard celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 29th 2008.
While in today's world Hollywood marriages last less then a year, the Newman's marriage has span five decades.
When ask why their marriage has become one of the longest unions in Hollywood, Paul answered that he never strayed, "Why fool around with hamburger when you have steak at home?"
Paul was born on January 26th 1925, in Cleveland,Ohio. Joanne was born February 27th 1930. They were married on January 29th 1958. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary earlier this year.

Lovely Saranac Lake
John A. Koetteritz and Antoinette H. (Polk) Koetteritz, were married on a lovely spring day in April,1948 in Liverpool, New York.
John graduated from Saranac Lake High School with the class of 1935 and attended Syracuse University. He is the grandson of the late John B. vonKoetteritz, of Dolgeville; New York, his grandfather compiled the original survey map of the Adirondack State Forest in 1892.
John has retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Antoinette works at The Loft in Camelback Ski Area in Tannersville, Pennsylvania.
A celebration was given by friends, and family for John, and Antoinette's 60 wedding anniversary at The Village at Camelback in Tannersville, Pennsylvania.
Afterwards the couple traveled back to Saranac Lake, New York, where they had spent their honeymoon 60 years ago. Their family has many happy memories of vacations spent at Saranac Lake since.

60 Years Of Spring On The Farm
It was a beautiful spring day when John E., and Eileen Lovelace celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with friends, and family.
John, and the former Eileen Oden were married in the spring of 1948, on April 24th in Kokomo.
John was a farmer when the couple married, and remained on the farm until he decided to retire. Eileen is a homemaker, having raised their three children and assisting John on the farm. They have experienced a wonderful 60 years together with no regrets.
The couples three children are, Bill and Janet Lovelace, John and Donna Lovelace, and Kevin and Diane Lovelace, all of Kokomo. The couple also has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Recipe For 70 Years Together
Harvey and Edna Kelly celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 9.
"Time has gone by fast," Edna said.
"It's been wonderful," Harvey added.
Harvey was 19 and Edna 18 in 1938, when they were married in Edna's parents home. They were to young to get a loan for their first home, so a friend loaned Harvey the money.
Harvey ask Edna to the junior-senior prom,since then, they've rarely been apart.
At 20, Harvey was working as a store manager for the A&P grocery chain, something he did for much of his working life. Edna worked in the Archer Hosiery Mill until their son William, was born three years later.

From the time they were married, they were one, It was never mine or yours it has always been ours. "Our marriage just seemed from the beginning, like it was always meant to be," the couple said.

Blind Date 65 years Later
Martinsville, was the site of the 65th anniversary celebration of Charles, and Ruth Richeson. Celebrating with the Richeson were family, and friends at the Zion's Hill Baptist Church. The family also enjoyed a dinner at Gray's Cafeteria in Martinsville.

Charles, from Franklin, and Ruth Maxine, from Hazelwood, met on a blind date and have loved each other for over 65 years.

California Love Birds For 70 Years
The 70th anniversary of Jessie and Fred Fahnestock was celebrated with their family and friends on March 11, 2008. The couple was married March 11, 1938, in a Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California.
The Fahnestock's have 2 children, Jim Fahnestock of Fallbrook, California, and son Fred Fahnestock Jr. of Grand Junction, Colorado. They have 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Fred retired after 28 years of working for the Defense Department as a contract officer with offices in Pasadena and Santa Ana, California. Jessie worked for clothing companies in the Los Angeles area. They have lived in Fallbrook for 10 years, where they attend the United Methodist Church.
The Fahnestock's have a very active life which includes traveling together.
Jessie, and Fred credit their 70 year relationship to enjoying one another in everything they do. Fred is 94, and Jessie is 88. When you see the couple together the love that they share is so evident in their smiles .

Meant For Each Other
April,15,1933 Wayne Fourmont 19, and Elizabeth 20, were married. When their families discovered they'd wed, they predicted the marriage wouldn't last a year, at most. Wayne said with a smile" they were off by 74 years."
Next month, the Fourmonts, now 94 and 95, will celebrate their 75Th wedding anniversary with a family gathering in Decatur. They moved to an independent living center a few months ago to be closer to their daughter, Sally Thicksten. The Fourmonts had three more children before their sixth anniversary.
When they're not with their family - which includes daughter Barbara Crain, 72, of Baltimore, Md., and son James Fourmont, 70, of Aurora, along with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren they still enjoy taking walks and visiting with friends.
Neither Wayne, nor Elizabeth had any trouble remembering their wedding anniversary however, when Congress made April 15 tax day in 1955, it would have been impossible to forget.
"I've been in love all this time," Wayne Fourmont said. "We were meant for each other."

Groom Late For Wedding
On a windy March day in 1938, Walter Weingarten 93, married the love of his life Marie 89. Walter was a farmer, therefore love and work have gone hand in hand threw out their marriage. They still live on the same land where Walter grew up. In 1959 the couple built a new home where they still reside.
Working in the fields with his brother Henry, Walter a 23-year-old farmer was almost late for his own wedding when his brother reminded him of what time it was. Walter had to hurry from the fields to collect his 19-year-old bride, Marie Hill, from the nearby farm. The couple headed for Castle Rock to get their license. (Why Castle Rock? "We wanted to take a little trip," he said.)

75 Years in Charge
Arnie, and Elaine Koegler have experienced amazing changes in the world, over the last 75 years together.
The Koegler's have lived in the same house on North James Street for the past 72 years.
The Koegler's were married in Bowling Green, Ohio in the spring of 1933, on April 21st.
Arnie 96, belongs to the Danish Brotherhood. Arnie, and Elaine 90 have been active members of the Bethany Lutheran Church for several years. The couple enjoy playing pinochle,and bingo.
Elaine was a homemaker, and worked at McDonald's. Arnie worked at Dow Chemical for 29 years.
The Koegler's have three children, eleven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren,and four great-great-grandchildren.
Long marriages run in the amazing Koegler family, their children Bob, and wife Joyce have been married 54 years, Keith, and Teckla for 47.

Texas Love Last 60 Years
Col. Ray and Bobbie Brock of Burbank will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with friends, and family at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. March 30 at the Pasco American Legion.
They were married March 28, 1948, in their home in Littlefield, Texas, and moving later to the Tri-Cities in 1960.
Bobbie worked for Seattle First Bank for 12 years and is a co-owner of Three Rivers Auction. She was a 4-H leader and member of a Wednesday morning craft club and the 2 Rivers Riding Club.
Ray is co-owner of Three Rivers Auction, has auctioned animals for 47 years at the Benton Franklin Fair for 4-H. Ray was also inducted into the Washington Auction Hall of Fame in 1980.
Ray is a charter member of the 2 Rivers Riding Club.
Bobbie and Ray are also active in charity auctions for churches and other nonprofit organizations.

Renewing Vows After 50 Years
Arthur J. and Agnes L. Sargent of Wheeling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 12 with friends, and family.
They were united in marriage April 12, 1958 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Wheeling, by the Rev. Limus Nickerson.

Adams Celebrate 61 Years

The former Irene Ellis, and Ken Adams exchanged vows March 15, 1947, in Newport, Ky.
Ken retired as a quality control supervisor at the Fisher Body Plant, Hamilton, Ohio.
Irene worked at the Fort Thomas, Ky., VA Hospital.
Ken and, Irene moved to ST. Augustine in December of 1980.

Working Together for 80 Years
Everyone enjoys the simple pleasures of life in Palestine, Texas recently one of those pleasures was celebrating a rare 80th wedding anniversary with Melvin, and Minnie Scott.
Melvin at the age of 100, and Minnie 99 may be the oldest married couple in Texas having celebrated eight decades together last month, the Tyler Morning Telegraph said Tuesday.
This amazing couple starts their day by eating bacon, and doing their own yard work. They admit that their lifestyle may not be for everyone at their age, but they do offer some advice after 80 successful years of marriage.
"If people want to stay married, I guess I would tell them to live a clean life, and stay away from drugs, and alcohol ," Minnie said.
Melvin said "I believe an active lifestyle and unchanging diet is the key to staying healthy, and happy throughout our 80 years together,".
The Scott's say that they have always worked together and still do.

Forever Love
WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. A couple from White Bear Lake celebrate their 83rd wedding anniversary this Sunday.
Now the Guinness Book of World Records is researching to see if Clarence, and Mayme Vail qualify as the longest-married couple alive.
After 83 years of marriage the Vail's Clarence 101, and Mayme is 99 are as happy today as they were in 1925 when they were married. Calvin Coolidge was President.
Clarence, and Mayme have been sweethearts since they'd met in the 8Th grade in Hugo, Minn. "He was as smart as a whip," said Mayme.
Mayme said patience is the key to a long and happy marriage.
The couple had 6 children, 39 grandchildren, and 101 great grandchildren. They live in an assisted-living home in White Bear Lake.
Mayme said patience is the key to a long marriage. You have to be able to admit when you are wrong. "I have to admit I was wrong on more then one occasion," Mayme said.

Learning to Give and Take
A BERWICK couple Max, and Barbara Winfield have just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family.
Max, and Barbara met 54 years ago at a local dance. According to Max, Barbara was the prettiest girl there. They were married a four years later in South Melbourne and honeymooned in Sydney.
Max said the key to a successful marriage was to give and take.
“You have to be willing to share everything and be prepared to give a little and take a little,” he said.
It is sad to think that reaching 50 years of marriage is quite rare these days.
The problem in today's marriages young people have expectations that are too high and it puts a strain on their relationships.
"The past 50 years has been an adventure for us," said Max, and Barbara .
“I was on the lookout at the dance for a prospective wife and it was pretty much love at first sight,” he said.
Mr Winfield, 72, and his wife, 71 say they will be together, forever.

Hosting the event will be their children and their spouses, Ronald and Susan Leedy of Garden Grover, Calif., and Joyce and Robert Williams of Channahon, Ill. The couple also have two grandchildren, Kristen and Lindsey Williams.
The former Dorothy Myers, and Robert Leedy were united in marriage April 17, 1943, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. They are members of Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Dorothy is a member of Miriam Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star. Robert is a member of Wick Lodge 481 F&AM.
Robert served with the U.S. Army in 1942. He was president of Roofing and Sheet Metal Inc. prior to retiring in 1975. Dorothy has been a homemaker caring for the home and raising their children.

Charlton Heston married 64 Years
In 1944 Charlton Heston married another Northwestern drama student, Lydia Clarke, and after his army discharge in 1947, they moved to New York to seek acting jobs. Finding none, they hired on as principal actors at a summer theater in Asheville, N.C..Within a sort spanned of time they moved back to New York, and later to LOS ANGELES.
The Heston have a son Fraser,and a daughter, Holly Ann. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1994 at a party given in Hollywood with friends. The Heston's had been married happily for 64 years.
Besides being an outstanding actor Heston was the author of several books.
Heston, was an Oscar winner who portrayed Moses and other heroic figures on film in the '50s and '60s. Charlton was well known for his conservative values as head of the National Rifle Association.

NAPPANEE, Indiana Jack and Dorothy Hoffer will be spending Valentine's Day the way they have for 79 years quietly and without much fanfare.
``We never did do a lot of celebrating,'' said Dorothy, 98. `` We just never went out much.''
Eighty years ago, the couple got to their wedding by horse and buggy, not because it was stylish, but because it was the only transportation available to them at the time 1921.
Dorothy remembers it being cold that day with a little snow on the ground. Jack, 102 still beams at the site of his bride while she tells the story.

British Couple Married 80 Years
The secret of a long marriage is one part whiskey, two parts love and understanding. Percy Arrowsmith 105 years of age also said that the two words "yes dear" had served him well over the 80 years.
Percy's wife Florence 100 years of age added that she too liked a sherry with lunch and a whisky in the evening.
Florence added she could not express enough the importance of saying "I'm sorry". "We don't often quarrel and we never go to sleep angry," she said.
The couple, who still live in their own house in Hereford about 200 km northwest of London, also set a record for the largest combined age in a marriage.

72 Year Love Affair
Going out on a double date in 1936 was the start of a 72 year love affair,for the Cortland Ohio couple John and Margaret Marsh.
Even though the dates they had that night were not with each other, John said he knew that "Margaret was the only girl for him."
The Marshes have been together for 72 years they celebrated the milestone on Easter.
John A. ‘‘Pappy’’ Marsh, 94, and Margaret ‘‘Queenie’’ Darbey Marsh, 92, were married on March 23, 1936.Both attended school locally, with Margaret graduating from Howland High School and John from Warren G. Harding.
John worked 32 years as a foreman at Republic Steel where he retired,while Margaret sold Avon products.The family honored the Marshes at a party at Eat & Park in Warren and then a party at Gillette Nursing Home.
Four generations of the Marsh family attended the party.

Francis and Louise Mugg
Francis and Louise Mugg, Kokomo Indiana, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Francis and the former Louise Armstrong were married Jan. 8, 1938, in Columbus, by the Rev. John Ford.
Francis and Louise lived on a farm their for entire marrage. They have now retired. Louise was a homemaker raising their three children and assisting her husband on the farm.
The Mugg's were blessed to have all three of their children with them for the celebration, Phillip and wife Kathy Mugg, Lafayette; Steven and wife Susan Mugg, Mission Viejo, Calif.; and Linda and husband Jack Heflin, Fort Walton Beach, Fla..

Thomas and the former Catherine Malcolm were married Feb. 21, 1942, in beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland, by the Rev. Oscar Bussey.
Thomas served in the British Royal Navy. The couple moved to Kokomo where Thomas worked as a millwright,retiring after 25 years of service with Chrysler. Catherine retired from St. Joseph Hospital as an EEG technologist after 25 years of service.
Thomas and Catherine have three children Thomas Nash, Franklin, N.C.; Dorothy Green, Kokomo; and Kathleen Parson, Kokomo. They also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
