Kaleidoscope Of Color

Indiana turns into a beautiful kaleidoscope of color in October; that is when Wayne Hartlerode and Nila Pierce planned their wedding.

Wayne A. Hartlerode and Nila Pierce were united in marriage on October 24, 1958 in Winamac, Indiana.

A reception and luncheon was hosted by the Hartlerode children Saturday October 11 at the First Christian Church in Harrison, Arkansas. Family and friends and several out of town guests were in attendance. The guests were ask to bring any photos or memorabilia that included the Hartlerode 50 years together.

The Hartlerode's are the proud parents of six sons and loving grandparents of fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Wayne and Nila enjoy traveling to visit with their children out of state. They also are active in their community.

Dreams of Farming

The 70th wedding anniversary of Mabrey McNorton and his wife Mary Lou was celebrated in the dinning hall at the Grand Bay Convalescent Center. Seventy-five guests which included friends and family members from Georgia, Texas and Alabama gathered for the celebration.

The McNorton's grew up in Repton, Alabama. Mabrey 87 and Mary Lou 89 were married in Repton when he was 17 and she was 19. They have lived Mobile area since 1954.

The McNorton's were farmers until a drought destroyed their dreams of farming. Mabrey went to work for his brother's service station on old Shell Road.

Fifties Theme

October 26, 1958 Harold Hadeen and wife Vickie were united in marriage.

An open house held in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Hadeen's at the Haxtun Community Center used a fifties theme. The couple ask that gifts be omitted. Music and memorabilia as well as photo's were the hit of the evening.

Harold and Vickie enjoy visiting with friends and family, and stay active with community projects.

Let"s Cruise

Richard Johnson and Charlotte Le Blanc were married on October 12, 1958 in Wakefield, Mass. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family dinner given by their son and his wife.

In 1959 Richard was in the United States Army stationed at White Sands Missile Range in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The couple moved to Las Cruces in 1963 and opened an auto-parts business.

The Johnson's owned the automotive business until 1984 after which Richard started to work with the Bogart's Auto and RV Service.

Charlotte was a secretary and bookkeeper for the family business for several years. She was also an accompanist at the New Mexico State University Production, Community Theater and the Voz Vas Queros for several years.

After retiring 1990 the couple became active members in several clubs in the Las Cruces area. Richard is active with amateur radio and restoring and showing vintage cars at Cruise Ins. Charlotte stays active in her many musical pursuits.

The Johnson's have one son Eric,(wife Margaret) and are the proud grandparents of two grandchildren, Brittany and Danny.

67 Years of Love

October 18, 1941, Roland and Doris Byom were united in marriage.

A private family dinner hosted by the Byom children took place on October 18, in celebration of their parent's 67th wedding anniversary.

The Byom's were blessed with seven children. They are the proud grandparents of seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

The couple finds it hard to understand why young couples give up on marriage so easily. Doris and Roland acknowledge that there were rough patches in their marriage but they always found a way through them.

The couple enjoy family functions and visiting with their children and grandchildren.

Wisconsin Lakes

Fall was in the air and the leaves and turned beautiful shades of red, gold and orange, in the Wisconsin Lakes area.

Ken Steiger and Kay were married on October 25, 1958 at St. Thomas Moore in La Crosse.

The Steiger children hosted a celebration honoring the parent's 50th wedding anniversary on October 26 at The Fox Hollow in Barre Mills. Friends and family were asked to bring photos, music and memorabilia from the 1950's.

The Steiger's enjoy traveling, visiting with their children and being active in community activities.

Beautiful Autumn Day

On a beautiful autumn day October 18, 1958 Jerald Semerau and Marsha Jensen were united in marriage at the House Of Hope Presbyterian Church in Duluth, Minnesota.

The Semerau's children surprised their parents with a family dinner in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jerald retired from the Duluth Clinic and Elliott's of Duluth. Marsha is a housewife and has retired from Super One in Cloquet.

The Semerau's are the proud parents of three children and the proud grandparents of thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Jerald and Marsha enjoy family functions and participating in community activities.

Texas Rose

Reverend Charlie Lamb of the First Methodist Church of Nacogdoches, Texas married Dr. Robert Baker and Mary Ann Brooks on a beautiful late summers day September 6, 1958.

The couple met at the New York State College of Forestry in Syracuse where Robert had just finished his PHD and Mary was a secretary in the department.

Robert taught at SFA until 1975 and then worked at the Forest Science Department at Texas A&M until retirement as professor emeritus in 2000.

The Baker's have one daughter and two grandchildren that live in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Robert and May Ann enjoy traveling to visit their daughter and grandchildren, they also stay active in their community.

God is Love

Charlie Patranella and Dorothy Kelly were married in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee on September 30th, 1958.

Charlie had met Dorothy while she was visiting her sister in Bryan. They fell in love and dated for two years before he went to Tennessee to bring back his bride.

On September 27th the couple exchanged their vows once again with REV. Ronnie officiating at the Northview Baptist Church in Bryan. A celebration hosted by the Patranella children and church members followed the ceremony.

The Patranella's have two daughters Cathy and Judy. They are also the proud grandparent's of eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charlie and Dorothy are active members of their church.

A Bible verse the couple have built their life around is 1John. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.

I Got Stung

Clifton Hopcus and Veronica Szymanski were married in the historic St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bremond, Texas on October 4, 1958.

After fifty years of marriage Clifton and Veronica exchanged their vows once again at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hearne, Texas.

A celebration honoring the 50th anniversary of their parents was hosted by the Hopcus children. Friends and family were in attendance music such as "I Got Stung" by Elvis and photo's from the 50's were enjoyed by everyone.

The Hopcus are the proud parents of six children; they also have eleven grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Clifton is retired from Verson ALL-Steel and Calvert I.S.D.

Veronica is still employed in the banking industry.

The couple enjoy family functions, traveling and staying active in community activities.

Late Summer Wedding

The Oklahoma fields were covered with a carpet of green sprinkled with flowers of every color in the summer of 1943,when Dellis Timmons ask Audra Lewis to be his wife.

On September 11th, 1943 Dellis and Audra were married in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

In honor of their parent's 65th anniversary the Timmons daughters hosted a dinner given at the Cattle's Steak House in Historic Stockyards City. Guest were ask to bring photos and any memorabilia that included the Timmons family over the past 65 years. A wonderful evening of walking down memory lane was enjoyed by all.

Dellis is a retired rancher from the Holdenville area where the couple has lived since 1958.

Audra retired from Big Yank in Wewoka Oklahoma.

The couple are the proud parents of three daughters, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Oklahoma Farm Country

It was a beautiful fall day in Oklahoma farm country October 9,1948 when Orlan Dees and Vonda Mcdaniel were united in marriage.

The Dees daughter Linda hosted a celebration in honor of her parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Along with friends and family the Dees 4 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson were in attendance.

Orlan worked for Economy Feed and Seed, OK Furniture and First Baptist Church before retirement.

Vonda is a homemaker and was a stay at home mom.

The Dees attend the Calvary Pentecostal Church.

The couple have lived in the Ada area their entire lives.

Seventy Descendants

Carlin and Margene Ashby were married Sept. 15, 1948 in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake Utah.

A celebration held at the LC Ranch Lodge honoring the Ashby's 60th anniversary was hosted by their five children. Friends and family were invited; twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren were also in attendance.

Friends and family were invited to the Ashby's home for an open house on Sept. 16. The Guest were requested to bring any photos or mementos, which included the Ashby family over the past sixty years.

The Ashby's have lived in Uintah Basin for most of their married lives.

Carlin was the publisher as well as the owner of the Uintah Basin News.

Margene is a housewife and was a stay at home mom raising their five children.

Wouldn't Change a Thing

Seventy years ago Oct.1, 1938 Loyal Cox married Odean Kump at the Uinatah County Court House. Oct.3, 1941 Loyal and Odean were sealed forever in a ceremony that took place at the Salt Lake Temple.

Loyal severed in the U.S. Navy during WW11.

Odean is a housewife and was a stay at home mom raising the couples three children Dallen, Terry and Glenda.

The Cox's are the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

When ask if she would change any part of her life Odean answered, "I wouldn't change a thing;

The couple have lived in the same house for most of their married life in Lapoint Utah.

Indiana in the Fall

The changing of the leaves in Indiana bring artist from all over the world to view and paint the kaleidoscope of colors.

It was on such a day October 3,1958 when Harold Eads and Catherine Gerhard were united in marriage.

A celebration was given in honor of the Harold and Catherine's 50th anniversary at the Bethany Wesleyan Church fellowship hall on Oct 4th.

The most memorable part of the evening were the photos and memorabilia of the past 50 years of the Eads life together.

Harold is retired from Northwestern School Corp. and is deputy director of the Emergency Management Agency.

Catherine is retired from Delphi.

The Eads are the proud parents of three children, they also have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Colors of Gold and Orange

A slight chill was in the air and the trees were adorned with beautiful shades of gold and orange when Joleen Smith walked down the isle to marry Ray Jones.

October 11th, 1958 Ray and Joleen were married at ST. Micheal's Church in Sioux City.

To celebrate the Jone's 50th anniversary an open house and dance was held held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Sioux City. Guest were ask to bring photos and memorabilia of the past fifty years that include Ray and Joleen.

The couple are the proud parents of three children and eight grandchildren.

Ray and Joleen stay active with friends and family functions.

The song "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck" was popular when Bob Nicholson asked Phyllis Alberding to become his bride.

Bob and Phyllis Nicholson were married October 11, 1958 at the First Congressional Church in Whiting.

A celebration honoring the Nicholson's 50th wedding anniversary was hosted by their children and grandchildren. Friends and family were invited to attend; photos and any memorabilia that included the couple over the past fifty years were the hit of the evening.

Bob and Phyllis have a son Brian and daughter Claudia and they are also the proud grandparents of two grandchildren Addison and Madeleine.

The Nicholson's have lived in the same home in Sioux City for the past fifty years.

The couple are active members of the First Congressional Church in Sioux City. They are also active in community functions.

Family Celebration

Stan Mowry and Cheryl Crow were married August 31, 1958 in Rapid City, S.D.

In celebration of the Mowry's 50th wedding anniversary their children and grand children all traveled to the Three Bears Lodge in Mount Rainier, Washington. The entire family enjoyed three days of fishing, hiking and a train excursion.

As a special gift a DVD presentation of Mowry's last 50 years together, which included pictures of their childhood to the birth and marriages of their children and grandchildren. They were also presented with a digital photo frame which, included pictures of friends and family over the past 50 years.

The Mowry's enjoy traveling across the United States visiting with their children and grandchildren. They also stay active in community activities.

60 Years Of Happiness

On August 14, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio Bill and Joyce were united in marriage at the United Presbyterian Church.

The Luebben's children hosted a celebration honoring their parent's 60th wedding anniversary; friends and family were in attendance.

Bill attended the School of Architecture at the Ohio State University. He worked for Church Growth Services in South Bend, Indiana designing church's across the United States. After moving to the Tri-City area Bill worked for Vitro Engineering until his retirement.

Joyce worked at the middle school while living in South Bend. In 1984 she received a degree in interior design for the Columbia Basin College.

The Luebben's have four children and are the proud grandparents 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Bill and Joyce are active members in the Richland Baptist Church.

They enjoy traveling and visiting with their children.

Mile High City

A family dinner was held for Roger and Carol Johnson hosted by their son in celebration of their 50th anniversary on August 22, 2008.

The couple was married in Denver, Colo. August 22, 1958. They moved to Richland, Colo. in 1959.

Mr. Johnson worked as a scientist and a fellow engineer before retiring in 2003. He is now a member of the American Nuclear Society, and American Vacuum Society. Roger is an elder and deacon in their West Side Church in Richland.

Mrs. Johnson is a homemaker and was a stay at home mom raising their son Scott. Carol is very active in their church where she teaches and is a member of the Sarah Circle.

The couple are active members of the Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center where Roger is a camp coordinator and Carol is secretary.

Roger and Carol enjoy traveling and visiting with their only child Scoot in Perry Utah.
