So In Love

August 24,1958 in Longview Washington Doug Peters and Marjorie Johnson were united in marriage.

A family celebration given at the Skamania Lodge to honor the Peters 50 anniversary was hosted by their children. In place of gifts everyone was ask to bring photos and memorabilia of Doug and Marjorie's 50 years together.

Marjorie is a homemaker and was a stay at home mom raising their children.

Doug is a retired layer from the Yakima area.

The Peters have lived in the Yakima area for 47 years where they are still active in community activities.

Traveling and family actives are among the Peters favorite pass times.

Garden Wedding

August 21,1948 Don Ware and Betty Fagg were married in a beautiful garden wedding which seemed to make the bride lovelier then ever.

A celebration given in the honor of the Ware's 60th anniversary was hosted by their son and grandchildren. Due to the fact that the Ware's are lifelong residents of the Yakima area photos and memorabilia brought by friends and family were the hit of the celebration.

Sense retirement the Ware's have stayed active with family and community activities.

Miami Beach

Harlan Parrish and Ella Conyer were married in Miami Florida on a beautiful summers day Aug.7,1948.

The Parrish children gave a luncheon honoring their parents 60th anniversary at the Yakima Area Arboretum on Aug.3 friends and family were invited.

Harlan and Ella have worked and lived in the Yakima area for the past 33 years.

Ella retired from the auto-licensing department in Yakima.

Harlan retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a Hanford federal security officer.

The couple has 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Young Lovers

A celebration was given Aug.2, 2008 honoring Dennis and Janey Swope's 50th anniversary. The Swope's children ask that family and friends bring photos and memorabilia that included the Swope's past 50 years together.

Dennis Swope and Jenny Peckumn met while in junior high. They were married August 2,1958 at the Central Assembly of God Church in Las Cruces.

Dennis is a veteran of the U.S. Army he retired from Lockheed Martin at the NASA site in 2003.

Janey retired in 2006 after 27 years of teaching at Conlee Elementary.

The Swope's are the proud parents of 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

The couple enjoy traveling and visiting with their children. They are also very active in community activities.

Desert Flower

Chub Foreman and Carol Knapp were married August 29, 1958 in Clovis, New Mexico.

A family dinner hosted by their children honoring the Foreman's 50th wedding anniversary was held August 29, 2008.

The couple met while attending the Eastern New Mexico University. Chub graduated with a BS in civil engineering. Carol graduated with an Associate of Arts degree.

The Foreman's moved back to Las Cruces in 1968 to run the Valley Transit Mix Company.

Chub was elected to the New Mexico state senate in 1984 where he spent eight years serving his constituents.

Carol worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the family company while raising their five children.

The Foreman's enjoy family functions and community activities.

Chub and Carol also enjoy traveling and golfing with friends.

Autumn Leaves

Fall was in the air with leaves of golden orange cascading to the ground on September 26, 1953 when Michael Bolko and Mary Lou McNairn were united in marriage.

A family dinner to celebrate the Bolko's 55th wedding anniversary was hosted by their children.

Michael and Mary Lou have five children and are the proud grand parents of 10 grandchildren.

Mr. Bolko's retired from the New England Telephone Company. Mary Lou retired from the Holyoke Public School system.

Second Time Around

Gordon and Martha Bennett of Bascagoula celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 5, 2008.

The couple traveled back to Beaufort, S.C. to renew their vows June 28, 2008. Friends and family from across the U.S. came to join in the celebration.

The Bennett's son Rev. Paul Bennett officiated in the ceremony. The original maid of honor Katie Rahn and her husband Ken were in attendance.

Gordon and Martha are the proud parents have two children Donna Deleay and Rev. Paul Bennett.

Mr. Bennett is a retired Southern Baptist minister of music. Martha was employed at the Singing River Hospital.

The Bennett's took a second honeymoon across the midwest going to Colorado before returning home.

Big Sky Country Wyoming

Willam (Bill) Goetz and Ann Frees were married in big sky country August 17, 1958 in Lander, Wyoming.

The Goetz's children gave a barbecue in honor of their parent's 50th wedding anniversary in Lander, Wyoming. A private family dinner was also given for Ann and Bill at Svilar's Steakhouse in Hudson, Wyoming.

The couple live in Riverton, Wyoming before moving to Billings in 1992. The Goetz's own and operate the Wind River Trenching Company in Billings.

Bill and Ann are the proud parents of 3 children and loving grandparents of 4 grandchildren.

They stay active participating in community activities and family functions.

End Of Summer

Just as summer was ending and autumn starting to show its beautiful golden hues Lowell Weaver took Margaret Cox for his lovely bride on September 7, 1958 in South English, Iowa.

On September 7, 2008 the Weaver children hosted a celebration in honor of their parents 50th wedding anniversary at the Saddlebrook Club House.

The guests attending the celebration were asked to bring memorabilia, photos and any music they might have from the 1950's.

Lowell and Margaret have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.

The Weaver's enjoy time spending with their family and staying busy with community activities.

Hawkeye Fans

Kenneth Moss and Janice Gilbert were married September 4, 1943 in Muscatine.

The Moss children honored their parent's 65th wedding anniversary with an open house tailgate picnic at the North Ridge Pavilion in Coralville. The Moss family are avid Hawkeye fans. When planning the tailgate celebration the guests were asked to wear Hawkeye attire if possible. Guests were also asked to bring any memorabilia they might have that covered the last 65 years.

Kenneth and Janice are the loving parents of 4 children and the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Half A Century In Love

Jim Jones and Joyce Thomas were married September 7,1958 at the Owensburg Church of Christ in a beautiful fall ceremony.

The Jones children hosted a celebration honoring their parent's 50th anniversary at the Terre Haute Holiday Inn. Friends and family and former students of the couple were invited. The guest's were ask to bring memorabilia from the past that included the couple.

Joyce was a first grade teacher at the Lost Creek Elementary until her retirement in 2001, she also taught in French Lick and Princeton earlier in her career.

Jim was a guidance counselor and varsity basketball coach at the Terre Haute Vigo High School until 2008. He also coached in French Lick and Princeton early in his career.

The Jones were blessed with two children Tom And Jill as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The couple enjoy being involved in sporting and community actives.

Loving You

Raymond Kerns and Madonna Cummins of Hymera were married September 4, 1958 at the home of Madonna's sister in Paris Illinois.

A reception was hosted by the Kern's children at the Fowler Park Barn. Guest brought music from the fifties such as Loving You as well as photos and other memorabilia. The walk through the past was the highlight of the celebration.

Madonna is a housewife, and was a stay at home mom raising their children.

Raymond is a retired welder from Stran Steel.

With 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren the Kern's are always busy with some kind of family function. They also enjoy community actives.

Indiana Fall Wedding

Donald Mier and Marilyn Lillie were married on a beautiful fall day September 6, 1958 in Terre Haute Indiana.

An open house was hosted by their children Monica and Brent to celebrate their parent's 50th anniversary on September 6 was held at the Collett Park Pavilion. Guest were ask to omit gifts but to bring photos and any memorabilia that they might have of the Mier's last fifty years together. The celebration proved to be a wonderful walk down memory lane for all.

Marilyn is a homemaker, and was a stay at home mother raising their two children.

Donald has retired from Indiana State University.

Besides their two children the Mier's have five grandchildren.

Rocky Moutain High

It was a beautiful summer's day in Denver, Colorado on August 23, 1958 when Fran and Kay Morison were united in marriage at the South Broadway Christian Church.

An open house in honor of the Morison's 50th wedding anniversary was hosted by their children on August 23 at the Riverview Golf Club in Sterling. Guest's were asked to bring any photos or memorabilia of the past 50 years involving the Morison's which, was a great success.

The Morison's enjoy family functions and spending time on trips with their 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Kay and Fran also like to stay involved in community activities.

September Morn

On a beautiful late summer's day September 5, 1948 Russell M Billings took Janet Stringham to be his wife. The Billings were married in Pasco, Washington the marriage was later sealed in the L.D.S. Temple.

Dr. Billings had a successful dental practice in Provo, Utah until retirement in 1996. Janet is a housewife and was a stay-at-home mom raising their four children. The couple are the proud grandparents of 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The Billings enjoy family trips and gatherings. They also are very active in community and church activities.

Russell and Janet's children hosted a lovely private family dinner to celebrate their parent's 60th wedding anniversary.

Arizona Sunshine

August 30, 1958 Jim Marosok and Dixie Robinson were married in McAllister.

A celebration honoring the Marosok's 50th anniversary was hosted at the Lodore Supper Club in Story, Wyoming.

Dixie taught in Billings at the Yellow Stone Boys Ranch. Jim taught and coached in Billings at the Lincoln Jr. High before they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1975. After moving to Sheridan the couple taught there until their retirement in 1997.

Dixie and Jim are the proud parents of 4 children, 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The Marosok's spend their winters in Mesa, Arizona where they are very active in community activities.

As a gift to themselves Jim and Dixie are taking an Alaskan cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

High School Sweetheart

Jim Acher and Betty McGhuey were married August 24, 1958 at the Shinook Methodist Church; the couple were high school sweetheart that had grown up on neighboring ranches.

Betty graduated from the University of Northern Montana and taught at Harlem for thirty-one years retiring in 1997. Jim graduated from the same college and taught at East Glacier Park, Lavina and Harlem. Jim was also a member of the Montana National Guard.

After retirement the couple moved to Casper, Wyoming where they now reside.

The Acher's have two children Mikel and Sandra and they also have 7 grandchildren.

Betty and Jim enjoy going on family camping trips and traveling across the country. Betty is an avid reader and enjoys hunting and fishing. Jim enjoys household projects and building models. They are active members in College Heights Baptist Church.

To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Jim and Betty went on an Alaskan cruise.

Big Sky Country

Bob Charlton and Frances Goehring were married August 30, 1958 in Roundup. The entire Charlton family joined Bob and Frances at Fairmont Hot Springs for vacation and celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple lived in Lewistown before moving to Billings in 1986. Frances retired from J C Penny in 1992 and now works at Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters. Bob worked for the Montana Highways Department as a project engineer and retired in 1990. He then worked for Omo Construction until 1995.

The Charlton's have 4 children, 11 grand children and 1 great grandchild that they enjoy spending their spare time with. Frances and Bob also enjoy participating in community activities.

The children of Joe and Dorothy Buergler hosted a party celebrating their parent's 60th wedding anniversary on August 21. Memories of the past were shared through pictures and stories from family members and friends.

Joe worked for the Indiana National Bank as an Executive Vice President until retirement.

Dorothy went to college in San Francisco at St. Mary's school of nursing.

Joe and Dorothy have 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen

Thomas J. Hanley of Galway, Ireland and Kathleen Carr and Indianapolis, Indiana were married August 16, 1958. Their wedding took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Kathleen's twin sister Eileen was the maid of honor.

A celebration hosted by the Hanley children honoring their parent's 50th wedding anniversary was held in Brown County where the couple first met. Friends and family were asked to bring photos and any memorabilia they might have of the last fifty years involving the Hanley family to the celebration.

Thomas and Kathleen are the proud parents of six children which all reside in the Indianapolis area. They also have nine beautiful grand children.

Thomas and Kathleen live in Greenwood, Indiana and are active members of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church.
