Lifetime of Love

Loran Wright and Irene DeHart were married August 14, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Atwood.

An open house in Palisade honoring the Wright's 65th wedding anniversary was hosted by their daughter Bonnie. Family, friends and guests from out of state were in attendance. Cards of congratulations, photos from the past made for a memorable evening.

The couple have two children, and three grandchildren.

The Wright's enjoy visiting with old friends and family.

She Was The One

On September 8, 1937, Leatta Marie Ford of Randsburg, California and Lester Anderson of Tehachapi were married in a small chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lester's sister Laura and her husband Brick Jones travelled to Las Vegas with the couple to be their witnesses at the ceremony.

Leatta look especially beautiful in her lovely red dress that she had purchased before leaving home.

Lester made a handsome groom in his favorite Levi's, western shirt and boots.

On the night before their wedding the couple were supposed to have gone to a baseball game but elope instead. Lester had made arrangements with his sister and brother-in-law to go with them. The two couple's enjoyed the sights of Las Vegas and Boulder Dam before returning home.

Leatta and Lester have spent the last seventy-one years happily married and living in Tehachapi.

True Love

Love was in the air while the war was going on, when Vilas Kaufman asked Donna Neel to marry him. The Kaufman's were married August 18, 1943 at her family's home in Windom, Kansas.

An open house in celebration of the Kaufman's 65th wedding anniversary was hosted by their children and grandchildren. Family and friends were in attendance bringing back old memories with photos and memorabilia of the past sixty-five years. An enjoyable evening was had by all.

The Kaufman's have two children, Sherry Nuehring, Rick Kaufman.

The Kaufman's have a total of 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vilas and Donna enjoy spending time with the children and grandchildren at family gathering.

Hello Young Lovers

On August 9, 1948 Cyril Headlee took Maerose Farthing to be his bride, at the home of her parents in Shelbyville, Indiana.

A dinner was given in honor the Headlee's 60th wedding anniversary, hosted by their children at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg.

Cyril retired after twenty-eight years of service at Brazeway Indiana Inc.

Maerose retired after twenty-seven years of service at T.R.W. Cinch.

The Headlee's are active members of Grace Wesleyan Church where they have been members for 60 years.

The Headlee's have five children, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

They enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren during family gathering.

Always In My Heart

In 1943 during the Second World War Ray Wilkins asked Irene Baldwin to be his bride. The couple was married June 23, 1943 in Wanamaker, Indiana.

The Wilkins celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children. Friends and family from near and far where in attendance and spent the evening reminiscing with old photos.

Ray retired after several years of farming.

Irene was a stay at home mom, raising their three children and helping Ray on the farm.

The Wilkins are active members of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Ray and Irene have eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren.

The Wilkins enjoy family gatherings and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren at community functions.

When I Fall In Love

When I fall in love it will be forever were the words to a popular love songs when Jerry Crouse ask Ileen Stephens to marry him.

Rev. and Mrs. Crouse were married in August 24,1958 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hartford City.

An open house in honor of the Crouse's 50th anniversary was hosted by their children at the United Methodist Church. Family and friends joined in the celebration with photos and memorabilia they brought to the celebration renewing the past fifty years of Jerry and Ileen's life together.

Mr. Crouse is a retired Methodist Church pasture.

Mrs. Crouse retired from the Hope Elementary School where she was a teacher.

They are the parents of four children, and 17 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

Jerry and Ileen are still very active in their church and community activities.
The couple enjoy spending time with their family and traveling as well.

I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face

The song "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face," was popular when Donald Jacobs asked Doris Kittle to become his bride. The Jacob's were married on August 21, 1948, in Aurora at the home of Doris's parents.

An anniversary dinner celebrating the Jacob's 60th wedding anniversary was given at Fiddlers Three Restaurant hosted by their children.

Donald retired from the United States Air Force Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and also was veteran of World War II. Donald also retired from Wellman Thermal Systems.

Doris is a homemaker and was a stay at home mom, raising their three children.

They are the parents of Kenneth of Shelbyville; Dennis of Connersville; Diana of Indianapolis. They are the proud grandparents of 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Donald and Doris are active in their community. They also stay active with children and grandchildren.

Mennonite Wedding

Erby Buller and Esther Friesen were married August 1948 at the Walton Mennonite Church.

The Buller children hosted an open house luncheon in celebration of their parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Guests were asked to bring memories and momentous of their past sixty years

Erby and Esther have two sons one grand child and one great grand child.

The Buller's stay active with their community and church functions.

Family outings and dinners are among their favorite past time.

Newton's Love

On a lovely summer day August 15, 1948 John D. Davidson and Jean Marie Wogan were married at Fairmont UCC in Wichita.

The Davidson's children hosted a dinner and reception at the Fox Ridge Conference Center, to celebrate their parents 60th anniversary.

Guests enjoyed reminiscing while looking at photos and memorabilia of the past sixty years.

The Davidson's lived in Wichita for two years and Newton for the past fifty-eight years.

Jean worked at a social service supervisor for thirty-eight years before retirement.
John taught at Newton High School for a period of six years, before going into business for himself Davidson's Music Co. in Newton for twenty-eight years.

John and Jean have two children, Mike and Terri.

The couple have 7 grand children and 6 great grand children, which keep them very active.

They are also active with part time work and community functions.

With Elvis in the background singing "I Was The One" Robert Crum asked Gayla Jones to be his wife.

August 17, 1958, in the Assembly of God Church in Terre Haute, Rev. William Saunders pronounced Robert and Gayla husband and wife.

Robert owned and operated Crum's Shell Station until his retirement after thirty-eight years.

Gayla worked part time in the office of their business while raising their two children.

The couple has one son Robert Jeffery and a daughter Charlene; they also have 5 grand children.

Robert and Gayla are active in community events.

Family functions and grand children s sporting events are their favorite past time.

An open house at the Clay City Fire Station honoring Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robert Yegerlehner's 65th wedding anniversary was held August 17.

Guests were asked to omit gifts; instead they were requested to bring memorabilia from the past sixty-five years.

The Yegerlehner's were married August 15, 1943 in St. Peters Evangelical and Reformed Church in Clay City.

The couple has 4 children, 9 grand children and 19 great-grand children.

The era of drive-in movie's and Elvis was popular in 1958 when Jerry Sayker asked Paula to be his bride. The Sayker children are hosting an open house on Sunday August 24 at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln, NE.

Guests are asked to bring yearbook, photos and any memorabilia from the past.

The Sayker's have 5 children and 12 grand children that will be joining in the festivities.

Heavenly Love

Rev. Kent and Jan Morse of Omaha were married in Smolan, Kansas on August 17, 1958.

Rev. Morse has served as minister in the Lutheran churches in Wahoo and Malmo, from 1980 until 2004. Jan was a stay at home mom raising their children and working on church projects with her husband.

An open house celebration in honor of Rev and Mrs. Morse's 50th anniversary will be given by their children on August 17.

Guest's are asked to bring memento's from their past.

The Morse's have 4 children and 8 grand children.

California Sunshine

July 25, 1943 John and Lois Richmond were united in marriage in Anaheim, California.

John retired from the United States Navy in 1972 with thirty years of service. After retirement John worked in the Santa Rosa Library system for ten years. John accepted a position with Phoenix Library, he and Lois moved there in 1983.

A dinner was given by family and friends to celebration Lois and John's sixty-five wedding anniversary, at Arizona Biltmore Resort. As a special surprise John and Lois's sisters Ellen and Nicole were in attendance.

Ellen and Nicole were part of the original wedding party. They brought photos and souvenirs of the Richmond's wedding to share with everyone.

The Richmond's enjoy family gatherings with their 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren

John and Lois enjoy traveling and being involved in community actives.

Escape The Cold

July 17, 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of Robert and Joanne Peterson, their four children and grandchildren join them for a quite family celebration. Robert and Joanne met and fell in love in 1943 they were married five years later.

The couple raised their four children in a home they built themselves in Palos Heights, Illinois, they lived in the home until 1979.

To escape the cold winters of Illinois they moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

After years of being a carpenter Robert retired. Joanne stayed home to raise their four children.

In spite of the distance separating the Peterson's from their children, they all managed to travel to Phoenix for Christmas with their parents.

Hoosier Wedding

Dean and Marilyn Pease celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 23, with friends and family in Huntington IN. The couple was married on July 23, 1948 in Huntington.

The Pease family moved to Arizona in 1959.

Dean worked for Motorola until retirement in 1991. Marilyn worked for Sears and retired in 1983.

Dean and Marilyn are active in community projects. They also enjoy traveling together.

After their retirement Dean and Marilyn found that they had more time to spend with their 2 children and 2 grandchildren.

Sixty Years Of Love

Bill and Anne Backewich of Lower Sackville, NS, celebrated their 60th anniversary with family and friends. Also attending were their seven daughters, 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Guests were asked to bring photos, music and memorabilia from 1948.

The Backewich's were married at St. Mary's Basilica in Halifax on July 31, 1948. Anne said "when times got hard our love for each other would see us through."

After retirement the Backewich's find that they enjoy community and church activities. Family gatherings and grandchildrens sport activities fill Bill and Anne's spare time.

Devoted To You

Frank and Anita were married August 1st in 1928. Friends and family gathered in celebration of the Milford's 80th anniversary. All the guest were asked to bring photos and any memorabilia covering the last 80 years.

The Milford's have two children, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Frank is a retired dockworker. Anita was a stay at home mom.

During World War II a bomb was dropped on the Milford's home. "It seems as though the hard times made our love for each other stronger", said Frank.

Anita said their secrets to a happy marriage are "a little kiss before bed, playing bingo and good plane English food".

LOVE IS ALL THEY NEED

A dinner in honor of Jack and Muriel Lawton was held at the Grove House Hotel celebrating their seventieth anniversary.

The Lawton's met and fell in love while attending Saint James School.

Jack and Muriel are both retired; Jack was a railway driver and Muriel from the Cadbury factory.

The Lawton's have two sons, John 69 and Jeff 63; they have three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Their son John has been married for forty-eight years: hopes to see his parents celebrate their platinum anniversary. Jeff stated "My mom and dad have had a happy life together". The couple didn't need fame or money to make them happy. Raising their sons and just having each other was enough for them.

August Heat

On a hot summer's day August 8, 1948 Donna Vandervort became Mrs. Orville Mocky.

A celebration in honor of the Mockry's 60th anniversary will be hosted by their children on August 8, 2008.

Guest were ask to bring photos, yearbooks and any memorabilia spanning the last 60 years.

Orville and Donna have a full life with their 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. With such a large family birthdays, holidays and anniversaries keep the Mockys calender full.

Orville and Donna are also involved with church functions and community activities.

Flying High

Over the past 55 years Alf and Evelyn Cadwallader were given anniversary gifts that were a little out of the ordinary, but this years gifts topped them all.

Alf and Evelyn took to the skies in microlight aircraft's in celebration of their 55th anniversary.

When describing her adventure Evelyn said,"it was brilliant" and the most exciting thing she had ever experienced.

The best part of Alf's flight was watching the expression on Evelyn's face when she landed.

The Cadwallader's friends and family wanted their 55th anniversary to be one that they could tell stories about for the rest of their life's.

Evelyn and Alf are known for their fund raising abilities in their community.

In the past Evelyn has walked on fire and gone white water rafting all for the good of her favorite charities.

Evelyn 76, and Alf 78 have never been content to set back and watch the rest of the world go by.
They can hardly wait to see what their next anniversary brings.
