Renewed Vows After 25 Years

Lynn Beaver and Sherri Tuttle were married July 30,1983 and renewed their vows July 26, 2008 at the Shelburn Church of God.

A reception in honor of the Beavers followed in the church fellowship hall. Family and friends were invited to bring yearbooks, photos and memorabilia of the past 25 years. Lynn, Sherry and their guest enjoyed walking down memory lane together.

The Beavers are active members of their church and community.

Lynn and Sherry are the proud parents of Brianna and Brett Beaver.
The Beaver family enjoys traveling, sporting events and church activities.

Rock and Roll Love

Dick Burchell and Ann Atlogic met and fell in love in the great Rock and Roll era.
They were married July 15,1958 at the First E.B.U. church.

The Burchell's children hosted an open house at their parent's home celebrating their 50th anniversary on July 27,2008.

Friends and family were invited each of the guest were ask to bring photos, music or mementos of the past.

Dick retired from the Burchell's construction.
Anne is a Family Service Advisor at Roselawn Memorial Park.

The Burchells have four children, and eleven grandchildren.

Dick and Ann love to travel and spend time with their family at large family gatherings. The Burchell's have a very busy schedule which, includes attending events that their 11 grandchildren are involved in.

Dick and Ann are very active in their community and church events.

Kentucky Bluegrass

Kentucky with the beautiful white fences, rolling hills and mountains covered with bluegrass is a site to behold in the spring and summer.

The Edwards were married on a beautiful summers day July 21, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio.

A dinner was held by their children in celebration of the Edwards 69th anniversary.
Stories and photos of the past 69 years was the highlight of the evening.

Homer worked for the C&O railroad until retirement. He also held the office of local chairman for the conductors of C&O railroad.

Mrs. Edwards was a stay at home wife and mother to five children. She had the hardest job of all and did it well "Homer said."

With five children, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren there is never a dull moment. The Edwards enjoy their large family gatherings.

The couple also enjoy staying active in their church as well.

Anniversary On The Beach

Tommy and Carolyn Glover celebrated their Golden Anniversary with friends and family July 12, 2008.

The Glovers will take a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in late July with their two sons and their families in celebration of their 50th anniversary also.

Tommy and Carolyn enjoy spending time with their three grandchildren and going on family outings.

Tommy retired from United Oil with 29 years of service, he now owns the Sleep Time Mattress Center.

Carolyn retired from the Hospital in Gaston, she now teaches nursing part time.

Carolyn and Tommy are active members in their community and church.

Fifty Golden Years

William Cope and Doris Stanley were united in marriage June 20,1958 at Christ's Lutheran Church.

A celebration was held by their son's June 21, 2008 in honor of the Cope's golden anniversary at The Family Life Center. Friends and family were invited to attend. Photos and memorabilia from the past were displayed.

Doris taught school for 45 years some of guest at the celebration were her students from the past. Their photos brought back many happy memories.

William severed in the Marines for 4 years. He retired from the Textile Repair Company and is now employed at the Gaston County Sheriffs Department.

William served as Scoutmaster for Troop 311 for 25 years several of his scouts from the past came to the celebration with memorabilia from Troop 311.

The Cope's have two son's and two grand children that they enjoy spending their spare time with.

Both William and Doris are very active in their church teaching and serving on the church council.

Love of God

A celebration was held June 6, 2008 for Dr. Jack and Louise Fox at the Western Sizzler in Gastonia.

Jack and Louise were married June 6,1943 in York, South Carolina.

Besides raising their son Jack G., Louise was also a minister for 25 years for which she received an award.

Jack received an award from the Foursquare Church ministry for 50 years of service.

The Anderson's have one son Jack G., two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Jack and Louise give their love of God the credit for their 65 years of marriage.

Louise and Jack enjoy participating in activities with their church and their family.

Still My Sweetheart

On a hot summers day July 14,1933 Eldo Anderson and Lola Anderson were united in marriage.

A celebration was be held at the Kansas Christian Home with friends and family attending.

Children as well as the adults enjoyed the stories and photos from the Anderson's past.
As the stories were told the couple shared their life's memories smiling at each other explaining that there were some rough times as well. Eldo put his arm around Lola and said, "she is still my sweetheart." In the Anderson marriage giving up was never an option.

The Anderson's have 4 children, 32 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
With such a large family visiting them the Anderson's never get lonely.

Nova Scotia

A luncheon and reception honoring Edward and June Maners of Terre Haute was given by their son Gary Maners and his wife Cheryl for his parent's 50th anniversary June 21, 2008.

Edward and June were married June 6, 1958 in Paragon, Indiana at the Christian Church.

June was a teacher until retirement in 1983; she is active with their church and community projects.

Edward retired from Eli Lilly in 1993; with 27 years service, he currently works part-time for Architecture in Terre Haute.

The Maners enjoy spending as much time as possible with their son and two grandchildren.

The Maner's are planning a trip to Nova Scotia to celebrate their anniversary in July.

Montana Mountains

The Montana Mountains in the spring are like heaven on earth, they come to life with plants of every color, and an abundance of wild life as far as you can see.

Bill Silk and Helen Bennett were married June 22, 1957 on one of those beautiful spring days.

The Silk's are lifetime residents of Butt, where Bill worked until retirement form Butt-Silver Bow County.

Helen was a stay at home mother raising their five children; she now enjoys volunteer work for speed skating, and Our Lady Of The Rockies.

Family and friends honored the Silks with a celebration for their fifty-one years of marriage on June 13, 2008 at the McQueen Club. The evening was a success thanks to friends and family that donated yearbooks, photos, and other memorabilia from the past.

World Travelers

Leland and Mary Ellen Thompson were married in Stevensville Montana, July 8, 1940. The couple were natives of Butt where they had gone to school and College together.

After their wedding in 1940 the Thompson's moved to Washington D.C. where Leland worked for the U.S. War Department. While working for the U.S. government the couple has lived in several states including Hawaii, Germany and Japan.

Mary Ellen also worked for the U.S. government while they lived in Germany, Japan, and Hawaii. She was Secretary to the Deputy of Defense, and worked in the Pentagon.

Mary Ellen and Leland were awarded a medal for traveling over 42,000 miles with the Norwegian Cruise Lines. Over the years Leland And Mary Ellen have traveled to every continent with the exception of Antarctica.

Aside from their travels the Thompson's enjoy gulf, bowling, and square dancing.

The Thompson's have enjoyed every minute of their 68 years together.

Nebraska Prairies Wedding

The Nebraska prairies take on a life of their own in the spring and summer, the fields are like endless oceans of green. The beauty of rainbows appearing after a spring rain across the Nebraska sky will take your breath away. It was on such a day that Joe and Geraldine Chmelka were married June 29,1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Freemont.

Their children held a dinner in honor of Chmelka's 60th anniversary. Friends and family members were invited to drop in with their memories and photos from the past.

Joe and Geraldine have four children, thirteen grandchildren, and four great grand-children.

The Chmelka's have made their home in Ceder Bluffs were they are active in their church and community. They also stay very active with family function that includes their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Independence Day

Lawrence Ray (Bud) Murphy and wife Eloise celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 1, 2008 with a dinner given by family and friends.

The Stanley's were married July 1, 1948 in Gaffney, South Carolina. Eloise remarked " that it would be impossible for Bud to say that he had forgotten their anniversary with it being so close to the Independence Day, celebration".

Eloise was a stay at home mom, raising their three children; she is now active in the community and in the First Presbyterian Church, in Stanley.

Bud retired from contracting and electrical work, he is also now active in the community and church.

The Stanley's enjoy traveling and spending time with their children and seven grandchildren.

First Day Of Summer

Ronald Dibble and Darlene Bauerly were married June 21, 1948, at St. Michael Perish in Sioux City Iowa. Summer was in the air and the war was over it was a time of love and celebration.

To celebrate the Dibble's 60th anniversary their children hosted a dinner, which included friends and family. A request made by their children for memorabilia and photos from the past proved to be the highlight of the evening.

Ronald has retired from Prince Hydraulic and farming he stays active in the community as well as in the church St. Michael's.

Darlene was a stay at home mom staying active on the farm while raising their five children. After the children were grown Darlene became an Avon representative and is also active in their church.

Ronald and Darlene enjoy family celebrations, and vacations with their children and grandchildren.

Iowa Farm Wedding

John Westra and Carol Klinwolterink were married in the beautiful Iowa farm country June 20, 1958.

While other young couples chose the more exciting life of the fifties, and sixties John and Carol chose the farm life and have never regretted their choice.

The Westra's raised their three sons on the farm where they are still involved in farming. John enjoys participating in tractor parades, farming and staying active with the Historical Society in Ireton.

Carol retired from teaching and plays an active part in Justice for All, the Historical Society, church, and the Red Hats.

John and Carol admit they enjoy traveling with their 6 grandchildren more then anything.

A celebration which included an open house picnic supper in the Oak Grove Park, was held on June 20, 2008 to celebrate the Westra's 50th anniversary.

John and Carol celebrated their anniversary with a trip to the Netherlands, Holland.

Everlasting Love

Elton Wallace and Lois Kelly were married May31, 1958 in Bennettsville, South Carolina.

In celebration of their 50th anniversary the couple renewed their vows to each other, with a dinner reception that followed hosted by their son. Family and friends were in attendance sharing many happy memories through photos and mementos from the past.

Elton and Lois have two sons and two grandchildren that seem to keep them busy with family functions. The couple is also active with the Plainview Baptist Church.

Both Lois and Elton are very active with the American Cancer Society.

Reflecting back on the last fifty years the couple is amazed at how the world has changed, but their love for each other has stayed the same.

Elvis Was King

Terry and Maxine Graham were part of the great rock and roll era when Elvis was King and life was good. After the war and young people found many ways to celebrate life. Falling in love while dancing to those slow rock and roll tunes seems so romantic in today's world.

Terry and Maxine happened to be one of those romantic couples, they were married July 10, 1958 in Woodbury, Tenn. Slow rock and roll tunes and Tenn. in the summer who wouldn't fall in love.

The Graham children are celebrating their parent's 50th anniversary with an open house at their parents' home in West Terre Haute on July 6, 2008. Friends and family are invited to bring old photos, music and memorabilia from the 50s.

Maxine is a homemaker and was a stay at home mom raising their four children.

Terry worked for the Eli Lilly & Co. until he retired.

The couple enjoy community activities and attending family functions with their 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Love On The Farm

May 19, marked the 61st. anniversary of Eldon and Irene Clark, a celebration was held in their honor by their children to mark the happy occasion.

The couple went to high together and dated until when they were married May 28, 1947.

Irene worked for her husband and his brothers in the family dairy business until she went to work for J.C. Penny's where she retired after 17 years of service.

Eldon spent most of his life working in the dairy business and retired from National Potash and Kerr McGee in 1987.

The Clarks have 5 children, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren that they enjoy during family gatherings.

In their spare time Roy and Irene enjoy traveling around the country, and being active in their community.

Thanksgiving Wedding

A large Thanksgiving dinner was given in honor of Roy and Glenna Cline for their 61st. anniversary the couple was married November 27, 1947.

The Cline's friends and family had many memories to be thankful for as they shared photos and memorabilia from the past 61 years of the Cline's life together.

Glenna stayed busy as a homemaker and mother raising their 6 children.

Roy worked until retirement as a master Carpenter.

The couple has belonged to the Masons, and Eastern Star for 50 years.

The Cline's enjoy playing cards and dominoes with friends and family, and also while on their many camping trips.

Grand parenting has brought many joyful memories into the lives of Roy and Glenna; they have 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Beautiful Spring Quilt

William (Bill), and Joyce Elrod of Gastonia, celebrated their 50th anniversary with friends and family June 28, 2008. A dinner given in honor of the Elrod's was held at the Bessemer City, Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Bill and Joyce were married in Beautiful South Carolina June 29, 1958. The mountains looked like a beautiful patchwork quilt with flowers in every color. With the ocean rushing into the shore the Elrod's thought there was no more romantic spot on earth to have their wedding.

Bill worked for Rex Mills for 46 years before retiring. Joyce retired from Rex Mills with 32 years of service.

The couple laughingly remarked that they find they are so busy after retirement they don't see how they made time for work before.

Bill and Joyce stay active in their church were they have been members for 30 years.

The Elrods enjoy family dinners and time spent with their 9 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

North Carolina Sping

John Holmes Jr. and Helen Falls were married June 21, 1948 in a beautiful North Carolina spring ceremony.

The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary with friends and family with a dinner held in their honor. Everyone was ask to bring memorabilia from their past relationship with the Holmes family. Pictures, photos, and mementos were enjoyed by the family and guest.

John retired after 39 years of service with the state of North Carolina.

Helen retired from the Presbyterian Hospital after 15 years of service.

John and Helen have a busy lifestyle with 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren to visit and share family gatherings with.

The Holmes are active members of the Gastonia, Center Baptist Church and the YMCA of Charlotte.

Japan's Princess 15th Anniversary

Japan's Crown Princess Masako and the Crown Prince Naruhito celebrated their 15th anniversary with a dinner that included the royal family and a few guest Emperor Akihito and Empress Mickiko, Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko.

The Princess is a beautiful and intelligent lady; she is a graduate of Harvard and a former diplomat.

It is difficult for such an intelligent person to sit quietly beside her husband without having a voice; Masako did not think her life would be so difficult.

When the Prince proposed to Masako he promised to protect her from the stress of a royal life. When talking to reporters the Prince stated that he could not believe that 15 years have passed already.

The Royal couple were married June9, 1993 they have one daughter.
