Recipe For 70 Years Together

Harvey and Edna Kelly celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 9.

"Time has gone by fast," Edna said.

"It's been wonderful," Harvey added.

Harvey was 19 and Edna 18 in 1938, when they were married in Edna's parents home. They were to young to get a loan for their first home, so a friend loaned Harvey the money.

Harvey ask Edna to the junior-senior prom,since then, they've rarely been apart.

At 20, Harvey was working as a store manager for the A&P grocery chain, something he did for much of his working life. Edna worked in the Archer Hosiery Mill until their son William, was born three years later.

The Kelly's recipe for a good marriage.

From the time they were married, they were one, It was never mine or yours it has always been ours. "Our marriage just seemed from the beginning, like it was always meant to be," the couple said.

"Our son William calls every morning from Georgia to see if we are still together," Harvey said laughing.
