Rainy Day Feeling

Jack and Marry Epps celebrated their 70th anniversary on May 4th in Hamilton with a family dinner.

Marry remembers their wedding day vividly " I got wet because it was freezing cold and raining." The rain did not change the fact that Mary's wedding day was the happiest day of her life.

"Mary's family bought a farm next door to my families farm and we became close friends," said Jack. On Friday nights the couple would go into Paeroa to the picture show on Jack's bike with Marry sitting on the handlebars.

Jack said, "We agree on most everything and it helps that I am so good looking." It is easy to see that Jack's sense of humor has been a great asset in their marriage.

Jack and Mary enjoy gardening, and going to sporting events such as rugby games with their family. The Epps have three children, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. They believe that having a large family helps to keep them young at hart.

"Our family is like a tight-net community," said Jack.
